Jones getting plenty of summer attention
Spartanburg Broome wide receiver and defensive back Markish Jones has made plenty of rounds this summer, first attending the Clemson NIKE Camp in May, and since taking in camps at South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State and Wake Forest.
"I went to Wake Forest's camp the other week. It really wasn't a camp. It was more of a passing tournament," Jones told Tigerillustrated.com in a weekend interview. "The camps have helped me. Getting out and spending some time around college coaches, it has helped me get (my name) out there more."
Entering August, holding steady at No. 16 in-state on Tigerillustrated.com's board, Jones has offers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, East Carolina, and apparently another program.
"When I got home from Florida State's camp, I called coach (Kevin) Steele, and he told me he wanted me to come down there for an official visit," Jones said. "He verbally offered me on the phone. He said they knew how fast I was before I got to their camp. That's why they never asked me to run the forty-yard dash. He was complimenting me on my routes, and how I caught the ball."
