QB's decision helps VT for WR Smith
Rivals100 quarterback Tyrod Taylor's decision was a big one for Virginia Tech and one player that commitment may help the Hokies land in the future is Virginia Beach, Va., Lake Taylor wide receiver Jay Smith. The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder has the Hokies in his top seven.
"My dad and I are looking hard at Virginia Tech and the possibility of going with Tyrod, but I'm going to choose the best fit for me and make a decision off of that," he said. "Tyrod and I are friends and we wanted to go to the same college, but we each need to do what's best for us."
Does Taylor's decision help the Hokies for Smith?
"It does help because he is a great athlete that will help their team a lot I think," he said. "I still say they are in my top seven and that's where they'll be until I visit. I haven't been there yet, but once I go I'll have a better idea where they stand.
"Overall I can say that Virginia Tech is a great team. I can't wait to get down there and check out the school, facilities and what they have to offer."
