Long is one of the best in the 2008 class
Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's-Belfield offensive tackle/defensive end Kyle Long (6-foot-7, 280 pounds) is still learning the finer points of the game of football but his potential is apparent. Size cannot be taught and Long lives with a walking football encyclopedia, his father, NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long. Schools are lining up to get Long's attention and he recently visited Notre Dame to check out South Bend. Can UVa keep Long at home?
"I cannot say enough good things about Virginia. That is my home school and I feel like I have grown up with the program. It is a place where I feel comfortable and a place where I know everyone associated with the program," said Long.
Long, who used to be referred to as the little brother of UVa junior defensive end Chris Long, has grown into quite a prospect.
"People joke about that but now the little part is only in age. Chris is my best friend but I have him in the size department. People will point to my dad, but I get these great genes from my mom," Long said with a laugh.
