Barham receives big-time offer
Durham, N.C., Hillside - the home of North Carolina commit Jonathan Smith and Rivals100 member Greg Little - has another Division 1 talent in offensive lineman Quinn Barham. The 6-3, 272-pound tackle recently picked up a written offer from Penn State.
"Coach (Bill) Kenney called and wanted to offer and sent it," Hillside coach Ray Harrison said. "I told Quinn to go ahead and do what it takes (to go there). His family is checking right now on the school, the graduation rates, stuff like that. He was so excited when I told him about it and couldn't believe it. (Penn State) saw him when we went up to New Jersey and (Barham) was throwing around all of that weight and their coaches were floored."
He also has a pair of offers - from Duke and East Carolina - and is receiving interest from Boston College and Colorado.
Hillside starts practice later today and Barham hopes to help the Hornets reach the playoffs this season. He'll play left tackle on offense and some defensive tackle and end on the other side of the ball.
