Johnson expecting big things in '06
In his first two seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, defensive end Charles Johnson had to share the spotlight with Will Thompson.
Those days however, aren't around anymore for the Hawkinsville native.
With Thompson now gone due to graduation, Johnson plans on giving the Bulldogs another force on a defensive line that already includes the SEC's sack king from a year ago, Quentin Moses.
"I just want to have a good year," said Johnson. "I just want to get my name known out there and I want to help the team anyway that I can. Everybody's coming together as a team."
Johnson, a junior, had just four sacks a year ago compared to the 11.5 of Moses. The two defensive ends had a friendly competition to see who could get the most sacks last year. Johnson hinted that the two plan to have a similar form of trying to out-do the other this year, but won't say much else about it.
"We'll try to do a little something this year," Johnson said. "It'll be a little more together this year, but we'll still compete all the time."
