Notebook: Freshman tailback learning fast
Making the adjustment from high school to college football is tough on any true freshman. But it's been extra tough for Auburn tailback Mario Fannin as the former quarterback adjusts to the speed of the college game and learns a new position.
But Fannin has no complaints. In fact, everything seems to be right on schedule.
"The first couple of days have been great," said the 5-foot-11, 214-pounder. "It's still a learning process but I'm picking it up at a good pace. I'm studying my playbook every night. Each day I'm getting better.
"Overall, it's great out here."
While it's still early in the process, Auburn running backs coach Eddie Gran is impressed with what he's seen of his young tailback.
