Lawrence gives his thoughts on team

The sidelines and playing field are very familiar to David Lawrence. A former offensive lineman for the Jayhawks he was used to the field and also from his days being on the sidelines as an announcer for the radio broadcasts.

But that all changed in late May when it was announced that Lawrence would take a place in the booth for Max Falkenstein. So he moves from the action on the field to upstairs.

Lawrence played for the Jayhawks in the late 70's and early 80's. He was a team captain and an All Big Eight pick. He likes what he sees from the offense.

"This is an offensive line that turned in a good performance in that four out of five win streak last year that are back," he said. "I think Jon Cornish can be as good as back as there is in the Big 12. I think Kerry Meier has the whole package. But he hasn't faced that live ammo yet. He has that swagger, the athleticism, and the mental side of it. He's got size, an arm, and speed."

Lawrence has similar thoughts as coach Mark Mangino when it comes to Meier.
