Running backs look for more active role in 2006
Last year, Vanderbilt's pass-oriented offense left little room for big numbers from the tailback and fullback positions. However, the Commodores got solid years from Cassen Jackson-Garrison and Jeff Jennings at the tailback slots, and a solid year from Steven Bright at fullback/H-back.
This year, Running Backs Coach Kenny Carter will perhaps look for a bigger role from his tailbacks, and will have a more versatile arsenal with newcomers Jared Hawkins and Jonathan Massey bringing some different gifts to the VU backfield.
Just before camp opened, VandySports.com caught up with Carter to get his expectations for the coming year and an update on the roles each player in the backfield is expected to play.
