Mario: We have a lot of work to do

He's only a sophomore, yet Mario Urrutia is looked upon as a veteran in the Cardinal receiving corps. The team's big-play specialist last season, Urrutia is expected to carry a similar role in 2006. Read what the Louisville native said about his connection with Brian Brohm, what he thinks about the Cards' pre-season ranking, and why covering him leaves defensive coordinators scratching their heads.

You're only a sophomore, but you're considered one of the veteran wide receivers on this team. What do you say to the new guys?

"I just tell them the same thing that the older guys told me when I got here. I tell them to come out and get in shape, work on the small things, work on your technique and the big things will come naturally."

Talk about where this team is now both mentally and physically?

"We have a lot of work to do. We're not quite where we want to be right now, but I'm sure we're going to get there really fast."

In terms of the national scene, Louisville was ranked No. 13 in the Coaches Poll. Do you think that's a fair assessment as to where this program is right now?

"I'm not really worried about it. Personally, I like being the underdog. Wherever they feel we are, that's their opinion."
