Turning point arrives for Lambert

Understanding is a two-way street.

During the past two years Terrail Lambert struggled to pick up Notre Dame's pass defense, not much of a surprise considering he was recruited to South Bend by one defensive backs coach, red-shirted under another, then finally broke onto the field with a third. With familiarity now a friend, Lambert has a sense of certainty in the secondary and a position boss in Bill Lewis that knows how to coach to the cornerback's strengths.

"There were times when Coach Lewis would get on me constantly about playing full speed," Lambert said looking back at spring practice. "Just him constantly staying on me, I know that's helped my overall play for this season. This summer I always kept that consciously in my mind to play full speed and play how I know how to play."
