Xavier’s persistence pays off with Jackson

Much of recruiting is just persistence. It is watching games, writing letters, making phone calls, and sending text messages. For Dante Jackson he was recruited hard by several schools, but it was the persistence of the Xavier staff and Coach Sean Miller in the end that made the biggest impression on him.


It has been a long recruitment for Jackson. Xavier was the first school to offer him during his freshman year, and in the end that proved to be a big deal. "It's been a roller coaster ride. I can honestly say (Xavier) have been the most consistent program recruiting me over the three years. Coach Miller came to one of our practices and talked to me for a second, the next day he called the school and said he would like to offer me a scholarship. He's only seen me play once, and Coach Mathis came from Ohio State to Xavier saw me play a few times. It was big, it was really great."
