Quarterback breakdown

If arm strength were a measuring stick for a quarterback then Mike Henig would be a great candidate for the job. What is most surprising is his command of the offense and the way Henig has taken the leadership role head on. Though his stature and mobility do not stand out, Henig has many other intangibles that suit Bulldog football team well. His understanding, quick decision-making, and maturity have helped him secure his position as Mississippi State's quarterback.

"Mike is no doubt the starter," quarterbacks coach Woody McCorvey commented. "He has tremendous arm strength for a guy his size. Sometimes that hurts him, like any other quarterback that has a strong arm, in that he tries to make harder throws than taking what the defense gives him. If he has a weakness then that is it. That is one of the things that we have been working on with him.
