Bond steps up
When Oklahoma State released their first official depth chart for the 2006 season, there was one surprise name listed among the starters - redshirt freshman left tackle Brady Bond.
Consider this: Bond started the preseason as the number two left tackle, but was demoted to the third team in less than a week. And stayed there through the remainder of open practices. Head coach Mike Gundy started mentioning Bond's name late last week in post-practice interviews, so his ascension to starting status has been rapid.
"Brady Bond is a guy who's played well the last three days," Gundy said following last. "He's a guy who's just kind of popped up and handled things well and done a nice job."
Faced with the prospect of starting when the Cowboys open the 2006 season with Missouri State on September 2nd, Bond just looks at it as step in the right direction.
"It feels good, because I'm starting to achieve my goals I've been working towards," Bond said. "I really try to not worry about what they (coaches) say about me, I just try to keep getting better at what I do."
