Five-star Junior Likes Vols, Visit
Basketball recruiting works on a different calendar than football, primarily because coaches have so many more opportunities to honestly evaluate prospects against their peers and draw some firm conclusions. The conclusion that plenty of staffs are already drawing is that versatile wing-forward Scotty Hopson, from Hopkinsville, Ky., already considered an elite prospect in the Class of 2008.
Hopkinsville doesn't qualify as 'in-state,' in regards to Tennessee, but it does sit just north of the state line in mid-Tennessee. That proximity to campus and Hopson (6-foot-5, 185 pounds) superlative ability at a position (shooting guard/wing forward) where the Vols could definitely use a player of his caliber combine to make him the likely No. 1 target on the board for Bruce Pearl and his staff among current high school juniors.
