Lafayette County's Lee the real deal
Lafayette County High School kept its perfect season in tact here Friday night after the Commodores had to overcome a 17 point first quarter deficit to Cleveland High School and went 5-0 after scoring 24 unanswered points.
Turnovers led to the early deficit for the Commodores, one by a fumble and another setup due to a blotch punt.
Coach Anthony Hart's team bounced back against the Tigers, using a solid running game and a stingy defense.
The Commodores has one D1 prospect that stood out, defensive end Markeno Lee showed great quickness off the edge and dominated his opponents.
Lee is listed at 6-foot-5 and 260-pounds, but looks very athletic for his frame. He runs well and dominated his counterpart Friday night. While it's pretty certain that Lee is a D1 talent, it's not so certain where he will end up at the next level.
Lee moves well for his size and looks as fast as his advertised 4.8 speed. He is also very strong for his size and used his strength to handle his opposition. He had five tackles in the first half and several quarterback hurries.
In an earlier interview this summer, Lee admitted some coaches think that he may end up at defensive tackle if he continues to grow.
"Right now they like me at defensive end, but if I keep growing they tell me that they can also see me playing tackle as well," Lee said. "I don't care where I play, I just love the game of football."
Currently Lee claims official offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and South Carolina.
Lafayette County will travel to Hernando this coming week and will take on Clarksdale the next.
