Buffs land another offensive lineman
One of the Buffaloes' main objectives with this year's recruiting class was to improve the depth on the offensive line.
They have been successful in addressing this need. Colorado recently landed their sixth offensive line commitment from the Class of 2007. Mike Iltis, from Riverview (Fla.) High, also becomes the Buffs' first pledge from the Sunshine State this cycle.
"On my visit out to Colorado [in September] I just had that feeling that that is where I wanted to go," explained the 6-foot-3, 285-pounder. "So I came home and for the next few weeks I talked about it with my parents.
"I had been to a bunch of different colleges in the summer and we just decided that Colorado had the best package. They have one of the top 50 Business schools, a brand new coach and a brand new system. It's also a great atmosphere and Boulder is a great town."
Iltis also held offers from Missouri and South Florida. He does not plan to take any more visits. "I feel really excited and happy about my decision," Iltis said. "There isn't a moment I question it."
The Buffaloes won their first game of the 2006 season this Saturday against Texas Tech. The win brought a smile to Iltis' face. "I was very excited for them because they have been working really hard and they had come close," he said. "That one week against Georgia, I really thought they were going to win that game. It's good to see they finally got that first win that they were looking for."
Who is Iltis' season going? "The past two weeks we had some offensive breakdowns, which resulted in two losses," he said. "We're 4-3. We need to win our next district game to get into the playoffs."
