Conference Capsule: UT headed to Lincoln
Two of the top all-time winningest teams hook up Saturday as No. 5 Texas will try to earn its sixth win in the last seven series games against No. 17 Nebraska at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lincoln. Although Bill Callahan in his third season has his West Coast offense humming, the Huskers' vaunted, old-school rushing attack could keep them as the lone undefeated Big 12 team in conference play.
"It's obvious Bill Callahan came in and said, 'We're going to run the ball like the old Nebraska teams and we're going to stop the run,'" Texas head coach Mack Brown said. "They've done that."
The difference? There is no Mike Rozier, Ahman Green or Lawrence Phillips in this bunch that has helped to lead Nebraska, 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12, to the doorstep of the program's best start since 2001. Instead, the Huskers average an 11th-best 207.7 yards rushing behind a solid quartet. These guys take turns being the star.
