Linney committed to NC State for now

Defensive tackle Kyle Linney felt like he deserved to play in the Shrine Bowl, and the 6-foot-2, 280-pounder from Alexander Central High in Taylorsville, N.C., is enjoying his time in Spartanburg, S.C.

"It's cool meeting a lot of new people," Linney said. "There are a lot of good players out here. They are all at my level so there is a lot of competition.

"I think I am doing pretty good. First day was a little rough with two-a-days, but we had a pretty good practice [Tuesday] morning."

Linney, who said he had 67 tackles as a senior, committed to NC State the weekend of the Georgia Tech game Nov. 4. He was asked after practice Tuesday where his recruitment stood in light of the coaching change that has Chuck Amato out and Boston College head coach Tom O'Brien in at NC State.
