Britt picks up early offers
After throwing for nearly 3,000 yards and rushing for another 1,000 this season, Trotwood (Ohio) Madison junior quarterback Domonick Britt picked up early scholarship offers from Kent State and Buffalo.
The 6-foot-5, 175-pounder has also drawn early interest from Ohio State, Georgia Tech and several others.
"Kent State was at the school the week before last and Buffalo was there too, they offered me on Dec. 18," Britt said. "I went to Ohio State last weekend to watch them practice. I liked everything; their practice was so fast-paced and those big guys can really hit."
Kent State head coach Doug Martin has talked to Britt about making an unofficial visit to Kent during the winter for one of the Golden Flashes junior days. Britt will likely take the trip to learn more about the first school to extend to him a scholarship offer.
'The way the coach explained things to me, I liked what he said," Britt said. "He said some good things but I'm going to wait and explore my options and see what happens."
Britt threw for 2,988 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. He also added 1,046 rushing yards and another 10 scores to lead the Rams to a 7-3 record and a spot in the Division II playoffs.
"I'm mobile so defenses really can't blitz me," he said. "If they don't (blitz) then I take the option and run with the ball."
Losing in the first round of the playoffs this year left a sour taste in Britt's mouth. He plans on making a return trip to the postseason next year and he plans to discuss that goal with his teammates.
"We really haven't set any goals yet," he said. "We get back into the weight room next month and that's when we will set our goals and start working towards them."
Britt's teammate, senior offensive lineman Michael Page, recently verbally committed to Kent State and has been doing his part to convince Britt to join him in Kent.
"Mike is talking to me every day saying I need to go up there with him," Britt said. "We're real close; he lives right down the street from me, so we're real close."
