Ditto set to rock and (en)roll

Former Monroeville (Penn.) Gateway star receiver and future Nittany Lion Jon Ditto has spent the last four years of his high school career determined to be the best.

Now, entering the college scene, the hard-working Ditto hopes to continue the trend, and will attempt to do so a few months before the rest of his future classmates. He will begin taking classes at the Penn State University Park campus in January.

"Jon is a great kid with a great personality and work ethic," said Gateway coach and former Penn State receiver Terry Smith. "He's the type of kid that we like to base the foundation of our program on. He works harder than anyone we have. He's a big, strong kid that has worked to get there."

The 6-foot-4, 223 pound Ditto will enter spring practice as a tweener, splitting reps at slot receiver and tight end. Smith said that he would be used mostly as an H-back kind of player, similar to the way the Lions utilize Terrell Golden now.
