Recruiting notebook: Some campus visitors

The immediate assumption most everyone makes when a new coach takes over a program near the end of the recruiting season is that the new coach's first goal is to keep all of the current commitments. That's rarely the case and it's becoming obvious that the class the old BC staff assembled during the summer will be different than the one that remains on Signing Day. And that will be a good thing.

Wide receiver Corey Gatewood is gone, he's off to Stanford. This is a loss we don't think the new BC staff was happy about as Gatewood is an athletic kid and he's a local from a good program, but turnover is part of any coaching change. Defensive end Jeff Rieskamp is gone as well, but we don't think that's a loss this BC staff is too worried about. Rieskamp is a Tom O'Brien kind of player - high motor, overachiever, tough kid. Think Nick Larkin - a good player but not a program changer.
