Alvarez working hard to get qualified

A lot of questions have come up in regards to Virginia Tech offensive tackle commit William Alvarez's grades. With just a month before Signing Day, the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder out of Woodbridge (Va.) C.D. Hylton is working hard to get the academic scores necessary for him to enroll at Virginia Tech this fall.

"He's working at it," C.D. Hylton head coach Lou Sorrentino said. "We're waiting for semester grades to come out and his academics are going to come down to the wire. I can say this, it is real close on the sliding scale. He's got to either bring up his core GPA some or SAT. We still have plenty of time to kick him in the butt to get him through."
