Redshirt Update: Alim Koroma

In our Redshirt Freshman Update yesterday, BWI started its evaluations and updates of Penn State's redshirt freshman defensive tackles with Tom McEowen (6-4, 285).

Today I'll continue our series of updates on Penn State's redshirt freshman defensive tackles by taking an in-depth look at Abe Koroma (6-3, 306) from Hershey (Pa.) Milton Hershey.


Throughout the entire 2006 season, Koroma practiced at the 1-technique defensive tackle position on the scout team.

"Alim was kind of a little surprised when he arrived on campus back in June." BWI was told by its contacts. "He reported in a little overweight at 312 pounds, but when they ran some drills on their own over the summer Koroma seemed to be the quickest off the football among the freshmen defensive tackles."

Koroma quickly lost between six to eight pounds during July and entered preseason practice right around 305 pounds in early-August.

"Not only is Alim quick off the ball, he has surprising speed for a player who tips the scale at 306 pounds." BWI was told by our contacts.
