Georgia offers versatile lineman
One of the most versatile linemen in the Peach State visited the University of Georgia for Junior Day this weekend. Omoregie Uzzi of Chamblee High School in Atlanta could line up on either side of the ball on the next level. The Bulldogs recognized his athleticism and saw his potential as they offered Uzzi a scholarship.
"Coach Mark Richt told me personally that he wanted to offer me a scholarship," said Uzzi. "He told me that he watched my film, he knew I was a good kid, and he wants to get good kids in Georgia. He told me they would send the papers in the mail and that I had a scholarship."
This offer from the Dawgs was somewhat of a surprise to Uzzi.
"I haven't heard too much from Georgia lately, so it was kind of a surprise," he said. "I knew they knew about me and they were sending me mail and stuff, but I didn't really know if they were going offer or not."
Georgia is the fifth school to offer this versatile lineman.
"Georgia Tech, Virginia, Duke, and Ole Miss have offered too," said Uzzi. "My coach has told me a lot of others are going to offer, but those are the ones I have the papers from. Maryland and others have been showing a lot of interest too."
The top five for Uzzi is not hard to figure out when looking at his offer list.
"I would say I like the schools that have offered me the most. Those would be my top five. They are all about the same and I don't have a leader."
He talks about what he likes about each school.
Georgia: "Georgia is a great program. Georgia basically speaks for itself. It is what all the hype says it is."
Georgia Tech: "I get a lot of love from Tech. Roddy Jones really talks them up a lot too."
Duke: "I think they are going to get a lot better over time. They have great academics too."
Virginia: "I really like Coach London there. It sounds like I could fit in up there."
Ole Miss: "I haven't talked to them much, but they have offered me."
Uzzi visited two of his top five over the weekend for Junior Days.
"I went to Georgia on Saturday and Duke on Sunday," he said. "I had a very good visit to Georgia and they offered me a scholarship. I got to talk with Coach Richt and I met Coach Stacy Searels."
