OSU, Wake offer LB Beal
The combine season is among us and high school juniors are ready to strut their stuff. This past Wednesday night in Waldwick N.J., more than 40 players ascended on the Superdome Sports Facility (Pro Day Combine) in hopes of impressing onlookers and earning an invitation to the very popular Elite College Combine coming in May.
One player that made people take notice right away was Roxbury, N.J. linebacker Brendan Beal. At 6-foot-4, and every bit of 235 pounds, Beal reeled off impressive numbers in all of the testing. He broad jumped 9-feet-4 inches, best among linebackers; he then demonstrated his lateral quickness by running an impressive 4.31-second pro-agility. Next on tap came the ever-important 40-yard dash and the son of former Boston College linebacker Craig Beal made his father proud after running a time of 4.50-seconds, clocked on two separate watches.
Other schools that have been showing the versatile player a lot off attention are Notre Dame, Boston College, Virginia, Stanford, Pittsburgh and Florida. Ohio State and Wake Forest went beyond just interest when the two schools offered Beal this week.
