Getting to know Dan Matha

Now that Dave Wannstedt and his staff have put the finishing touches on the 2007 recruiting class, is taking a closer look at each of the recruits. You probably already know what position each recruit plays and how tall he is; now we're looking at the young man and what he'll bring to the University of Pittsburgh, not just the football team.

Today takes a look at Dan Matha.

A first team AAAA all-state selection by the Associated Press as a junior and as a senior…also named first team AAAA all-state by the Pennsylvania Football News…chosen for the Harrisburg Patriot-News Platinum 33 team…first team All-Region 6 and first team All-District 10…as a senior, Matha graded out in his blocking assignments at 96%...graded out at 95.4% as a junior

What has been your most memorable moment on the football field? It was my junior year against Cathedral Prep, our big rival. It was the fourth quarter and there were six minutes left and we were down by a touchdown. We got the ball and we were driving, and our coach kept calling plays to the right side of the line. I play right tackle and my best friend is the right guard, and the play they kept calling was "24 ISO." That play goes to the right side, and me and right guard dominated. We scored the touchdown and tied it and then we kept running "24 ISO" in overtime and won the game. I love hearing that play: 24 ISO. Even in practice, when we hear "24 ISO" we get excited.
