New Jersey speedster to visit Pitt

New Jersey running back Rashad White (5' 11" 170) is coming off a big junior year and college recruiters have noticed.

White now has eight scholarship offers and that number is sure to grow. White currently has offers from Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Florida, Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers, Boston College and Cincinnati.

White is coming off a spectacular year for Teaneck High School. This is the same school that sent Pitt wide receiver Oderick Turner. White told the Pantherlair, "Oderick is a good fiend of mine. He has good things to say about Pitt. I am planning on coming to Pittsburgh to watch one of their spring practices. I am out right now and am not sure of the date. I also plan on going to Rutgers to watch one of theirs." White has also visited Maryland.

White rushed for 1,400 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore and was a second team all-state selection. As a junior, White ran for 2,386 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was a first team all-state selection this past year.

White whose nickname is "The Bullet" has some speed. He was fifth in the 200 meters (22.18) and sixth in the 100 meters (11.03) at the 2006 NJSIAA/Star Leger outdoor track and field championships. He was 16th in the country in the 200 meters in a national meet.

White plans on attending the Premium Showcase, the Nike Training Camp and the Elite College combine.

White was recently selected by Rivals.com as one of their Top 250 prospects to watch in the Class of 2008.
