Virginia is one of five to offer tight end Carter

Charlotte (N.C.) Independence tight end Mario Carter (6-foot-4, 235 pounds, 4.7 seconds) is one of the top players in the Tar Heel State for 2008. Playing for one of the nation's most successful high school programs has brought attention to the talented tight end, but it is his ability that is leading to scholarship offers. Virginia is one of five schools to extend an offer to Carter. Is UVa a school of interest?

"I now hold scholarship offers from North Carolina State, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Virginia Tech," said Carter.

Although he is not ready to make his college decision, one school holds a slight lead over the field.
