NoCal WR creates Sparks

Wide receiver Jarrett Sparks (6-2, 200, 4.5) from Merced, Calif., is one to watch from Northern California this season. He has the dimensions D-I schools like in the modern wide receiver prospect.

Sparks is a tremendous all-around athlete who earned second-team all-district, second-team all-conference and second-team all-area as a wide receiver his junior season after catching 42 passes for 862 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 20.5 yards per catch.

The athletic Sparks was also his League's Player of the Year for his skills as a basketball player after averaging over 25 points in league. In one playoff game Sparks scored 36. Sparks is seeing some recruiting action for his basketball talents as well.

"Jarrett is a playmaker," Merced coach Rob Scheidt said. "When he has the ball in his hands, he's a threat to make a big play every time.
