Purdue pursuing Ohio tackle

The state of Ohio is home to one of the national class of 2008's top groups of offensive tackles.

Wausegon (Ohio) tackle Elliott Mealer is part of it.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Mealer is not a natural offensive tackle. In fact, he has not played the position yet in his high school career.

Bowling Green, Duke, Eastern Michigan, Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio), Purdue and Northwestern are the seven schools that have already extended Mealer a scholarship offer and many more are showing strong interest. When the Boilermakers offered a scholarship, they were among the first.
