Shumate's on the horizon

As the Cal football staff begin to build their 2008 recruiting class, look for Las Vegas (Nev.) linebacker Colin Shumate to be towards to the top of their wish list. Measuring a solid 6-foot-1 and 227-pounds, Shumate could develop on the heels of former Rivals Freshman All-American and current Cal star Zack Follett.

Like Follett, Shumate has the ability to begin his career as an outside linebacker, but shift inside with more strength and experience.

The Bears arguably mined the number one prospect in the Silver State last year when they signed rover D.J. Campbell. D.J's a prospect that Shumate knows well, and actually competed against him during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
