Whitley's offer list continues to grow

Defensive back Eddie Whitley of Charlotte was overshadowed at the beginning of the recruiting process by his touted teammates in Butler High's secondary, but Whitley quickly has made a name for himself.

As a junior Whitley posted impressive stats for a 12-3 Butler team. He had 105 tackles, six interceptions, 12 pass breakups and proved to be a beast on special teams by blocking four field goals. He was named first-team All-Conference.

This past Saturday at the Shrine Bowl combine held at Butler High, located in Matthews, Whitley posted a strong overall workout. He checked in at 6-foot-0.5, 169 pounds and ran 40-yard dashes for 4.40 and 4.46 seconds, both handheld times. He did the shuttle in 4.26 seconds, vertically leaped 31.2 inches and bench pressed 185 pounds nine times.
