Alcoa's Sommer Among Junior Day Guests

East Tennessee in general isn't an historical hotbed for big-time football talent, but that rule doesn't apply to Alcoa high school, where cranking out Division I prospects is a regular occurrence, as regular as winning state titles. This year will be no different, at least in regard to prospects, with defensive back Brian Sommer having already stamped himself as an SEC caliber recruit.

Sommer (6-foot-0, 195 pounds) has been a starter and an integral part of Alcoa's last two state titles, bursting onto the scene when he intercepted 12 passes as a sophomore (returning five for touchdowns). That kind of production was enough to get him noticed with plenty of college coaches looking at older teammates like Brandon Warren and Dustin Lindsey.
