Golden Golphers nab Golden State WR

Wide receiver/cornerback Kevan Walker (6-0, 180, 4.4) from Arcadia, Calif., has decided to end his recruitment early and has committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers so that he can concentrate on getting ready for his senior season.

"I'm excited," Walker said. "It still doesn't feel real.

"My dream was always to play college football and now it's coming true. It's really exciting to know that it is coming true.

"I like everything that Minnesota brings to the table," Walker said. "I think (new Minnesota head coach) Coach Tim Brewster and (wide receiver) Coach George McDonald are really good coaches and I love the offense.

As a receiver, Walker had 42 receptions for 650 yards and five touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Walker played both corner and safety racking up 48 tackles and two picks.
