UK signee Stewart speaks with Gillispie

One of Kentucky's two fall basketball signees says he was never entertaining ideas of seeking a release from his national letter of intent following the departure of Tubby Smith, but that sentiment did not do anything to dampen his enthusiasm when he heard the Wildcats had hired Billy Gillispie.

"I thought it was great," said Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day forward A.J. Stewart. "I know everybody was talking about Billy Donovan and some other big-name coaches, but I was happy to hear it was someone like coach Gillispie.

"He's got a good reputation coming from Texas A&M. They didn't have much of a team before he got there, and they were in the Sweet 16 this year, so that tells you a lot. I saw a lot of highlights of Acie Law this year, and I know he did a good job of coaching him and helping him become a great player."
