Bear leads Panthers at the Boo

This weekend Angelo "Bear" Johnson led the Howard Pulley Panthers to a 4-2 record and a Bronze Division title at the Boo Williams Invitational. Johnson is a hot prospect that several high majors are looking at and he has high interest in Tubby Smith's Minnesota Gophers. Bear averaged 16.4 points and seven assists in his six games in Virginia.

The Panthers had a rough start falling twice in pool play on Friday and Saturday but they bounced back Saturday night and Sunday to take home some hardware with three straight wins to close out their weekend. They beat Team Final from Philadelphia, the Albany City Rocks and the California Hoyas in their final three games.

Johnson was the catalyst the entire weekend scoring in double figures every game but also creating shots for teammates throughout the tournament. In the title game he had a weekend high 19 points with seven assists and he put up 18 points and ten assists beating the team from Albany.
