Arceneaux has great Grove Bowl visit
One Ole Miss signee can't wait to get to Oxford.
May 25, Colby Arceneaux will graduate from John Curtis High Schhol. On May 26, he'll arrive at Ole Miss.
Arceneaux got a chance to spend time in Oxford for the Rebels' annual Grove Bowl this past weekend. The visit only made him more excited about playing at Ole Miss.
"It was awesome this past weekend," Arceneuax said. "I loved how the Ole Miss safeties play. They are aggressive and love to hit, that's the way I love to play the game."
Arceneuax plans on playing both football and baseball at Ole Miss, and the outstanding athlete got a chance to watch a Rebel baseball game Friday night.
"We watched the first three innings and then left early," Arceneuax said. "We about froze to death. We weren't expecting it to be that cold.
"I enjoyed the game; I look forward to playing both sports at Ole Miss."
Currently Colby is preparing for the next level by working out almost daily and finishing his high school baseball career.
"I'm working out all the time," Arceneuax said. "I'm playing centerfield and batting in the No. 3 hole. Right now I'm batting .390, and we are winning a lot of games."
Apparently his workout routine is paying off; Arceneaux has already put on five pounds this spring.
"I'm bench pressing 390 right now," Arceneaux said. "I want to get that up to 415 before I get to Oxford. I love to workout; so I'm looking forward to their off season program."
Arceneaux has simple and realistic goals for his arrival at Ole Miss.
"My goals are to give it everything I have in the weight room and learn everything I can about the defense," Arceneaux said. "I'm really looking forward to getting to know my fellow teammates and do whatever I can to help this team. If it's special teams, scout team, I don't care. I just want to do my best and help whatever way I can."
The two-star prospect said he finished last season with about 70 tackles and had three interceptions, one which was returned for touchdown.
And, while there's a few future Rebels on the commitment list who have some academic work to do, Arceneaux is not one of them.
He carries a 3.6 GPA and has notched a 25 on his ACT. He plans on majoring in pre-med.
