South Carolina grabs commitment No. 1
Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast Shaq Wilson has had the South Carolina Gamecocks at the top of his list for months. While in town for the Garnet & Black Spring Game, the 6-foot, 210-pound Wilson decided to make it official and commit to Carolina.
"Yes, sir, I'm a Gamecock now," Wilson said. "I loved everything up here so much that I decided to go ahead an commit. I wanted to be the first commitment for them."
Wilson, who racked up 110 tackles and nine sacks as a junior, chose USC for several reasons.
"I was already comfortable with the football program from coming to camp last summer," he said. "Once I learned more about the academic situation and became comfortable with that, I knew I was going to commit. I just feel very strongly about coach (Steve) Spurrier as a coach, and I think great things are ahead with him as the coach."
