Is a change in store for offense?
During Mark Mangino's press conference after the spring game he gave some big hints as to what may change with the offense. He didn't talk about schemes or personnel. He didn't talk about a certain style.
But he sure gave some big hints and those hints should help out.
Last year the Jayhawks started two freshmen by class in Kerry Meier and Todd Reesing. They always say that the speed of the game changes for younger players making a transition from high school to the Big 12 level. But so does the mental aspect of the game.
A quarterback is responsible for a lot of things and one of those is trying to recognize a defense and get his team into the right situation. That doesn't come easy. Even seniors make mistakes at trying to identify a defense and make the right call.
Kansas fans will surely remember last year when Oklahoma State and Missouri had a lot of success throwing the ball against them. But if you look closely at the offense both the Cowboys and Tigers ran it came from the sidelines.
