Spartans get important first commitment

Spartan Head Coach Mark Dantonio indicated not long after he was hired that he believed that it was important for Michigan State to recruit the Detroit Public School League well. The former Michigan State staff often struggled recruiting this talented laden area. While at the University of Cincinnati, Coach Dantonio had had success getting Detroit PSL players to look at the Bearcats; now he has landed a key recruit for the Michigan State class of 2008, Charles Burrell of Detroit Southeastern High School.

Burrell is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound athlete with 4.6 speed. He is considered by most analysts one of the top 10 players in Michigan for the class of 2008. The Spartans were high on his ability right away and were the first school to offer.
