Getting to know signee Vonzell McDowell

As one of the top cornerback prospects in the Northwest, Vonzell McDowell figures to be an impact player for the Washington Huskies. He may be small in stature, but he joins the UW program looking to contribute early and make his share of big plays.

As a senior at Rainier Beach High School, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound McDowell had 45 tackles and three interceptions. He also stood out as a wide receiver and kick return specialist for the Vikings. The two-time All-Metro Sound (defense and offense) performer is open to playing anywhere he can contribute, but expects that he will be lining up exclusively at cornerback.

In the end, McDowell chose to attend and play for Washington over UCLA. He is a definitely a key member of Washington's 2007 class.
