Ebbitt ready for cross country move

Seventeen members of Texas A&M's class of 2007 are from Texas. The one that isn't is Westlake Village (CA) Oaks Christian defensive end Michael Ebbitt who will be heading to College Station from Los Angeles this summer.

A few weeks ago Ebbitt was able to make the trip to College Station to check out spring practice and the Maroon and White game, but for Ebbitt the trip was about much more than just watching football.

"I went down there to meet some of the guys since I'm the only one not from Texas. I met Derrick Stephens and Evan Eike," Ebbitt said. "I've got some friends for roommates now. That was the highlight right there - just meeting some of the guys. Now when I get down there this summer I'll know some people."

Eike said in a previous interview that he had fun showing Ebbitt around College Station, and that he doesn't believe Ebbitt will have a tough time adjusting to his new surroundings.

Ebbitt doesn't think so either, although Eike has a new activity planned for Ebbitt upon his arrival.

"Evan said he is going to take me hunting and stuff, so we'll see," Ebbit said. "It won't be too hard (adjusting to College Station). It'll be easy because I'll be with the guys every day during the summer. I've been down there and I've befriended some of the older guys as well as the new guys, so everyone is pretty welcoming and it's one big family. I don't think it'll be too tough."
