Arizona linebacker getting notice
Linebacker Kurt Mangum (6-1, 230, 4.6) from Chandler (Ariz.) Basha is beginning to make a name for himself after some stellar combine performances since February. One of the reasons that Mangum is kind of flying under the radar is he will be playing at his third school in three years.
Mangum played at Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's as a sophomore. He played on a State Championship team as a junior with Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton and since then his family has moved into the Chandler (Ariz.) Basha district where he will lace them up for his senior season.
As a junior, Mangum played out of position as a defensive end, but he will lineup at Mike for Basha and could see some action on the offensive side of the ball as a one back or fullback.
As an edge player, Mangum racked 67 tackles, 12 quarterback hurries and seven sacks on the season.
"We've had about 15 schools come by already," Basha coach Tim McBurney said. "Mostly getting transcripts, but there is interest in Kurt."
