Brown excited by Spurrier's visit

Cheraw (S.C.) wide receiver Jaron Brown received some special visitors last week, the first week the South Carolina coaching staff went on the road for the evaluation period this spring.

"Coach (Steve) Spurrier and coach (David) Reaves came by the school last Monday," the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Brown said. "It was good to have them there. We met in Mrs. (Sandra) Sowell's office. They talked to her while I was in the room. They are high on my list. I'm going to camp there in June."

Brown, who scored 13 total touchdowns as a junior, also has an offer from Clemson.

"I went up to one of Clemson's spring practices, and I liked it up there, too," he said. "We toured everything like the facilities and the weight room and the dorms. It's a beautiful campus. I talked to coach (Dabo) Swinney. He said I could play wide receiver or safety if I came there. I was planning to go to their spring game, but I didn't make it back there.
