Spring recruiting keeps Newman busy

Monday won't be the last time Brandon Newman sees Corwin Brown.

Notre Dame's defensive coordinator paid a visit to Pleasure Ridge Park High School yesterday along with defensive line coach Jappy Oliver. The Irish duo stopped by before school began and were followed by coaches from Alabama, Louisville and Indiana. Newman, who visited South Bend twice during spring practice, will return later this month.

"When it comes to being comfortable with Notre Dame, that's easy," Newman said. "That's a no-brainer, really. It's a great program and they have everything I could ever ask for."

There's not much left for Newman to learn about Notre Dame other than check out the dorms. In fact, the trip will be geared more toward Newman's entourage. The 6-foot-1, 300-pound nose guard said his family will meet with admissions and the academic support department. Newman also wants some of his PRP coaches to make the trip.
