Crawford receives Ole Miss offer

It didn't take long for one Louisiana prospect to name his leader, shortly after he received an official offer.

Jimmie Crawford, a defensive back from West Jefferson High School, received an offer from Ole Miss last week and was quick to name the Rebels his early leader.

"Ole Miss is my favorite," Crawford told Rebel Sports.Net last week. "I was surprised, but very happy my first offer is from a good school in the SEC."

According to Crawford, the 6-foot-1, 185 defensive back is currently receiving interest from Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State and LSU.

"I have a lot of interest in Ole Miss," Crawford said. "I will be attending camp there on June 2."

Coach Frank Wilson is recruiting Crawford for the Rebels and according to the standout defender he has been impressed with Wilson and the Ole Miss coaching staff.

"Coach Wilson is a great guy, he makes you feel like family," Crawford said. "I like Coach (Ed) Orgeron a lot also. I love his enthusiasm and energy."

Crawford finished his junior season with 57 tackles and five interceptions, enough to earn the defender second team All-Conference honors. West Jefferson High School finished the 2006 season with a 4-6 record.

"We are working hard to improve our record from last year," Crawford said. "We have a lot of guys coming back; it should be a fun year."
