Nelson Caps off Busy Spring
Before the spring season, Reeves Nelson played in relative anonymity outside his home state of California. Fast-forward to May, and just about every big-time basketball program in the nation knows about the 6-foot-7 220-pound forward out of Modesto, CA. Nelson is a sophomore attending Modesto Christian, a high school with a well-known basketball reputation for producing high-end division one recruits.
Just how good was Nelson's spring evaluation period? Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer had this to say about Nelson.
"Built like a brick but also possessing strong athleticism, Nelson is a throwback-type player who competes on every possession. He has the strength and mobility to guard the three and the four positions. Offensively he can score with his back to the basket, but is most dangerous in the half court when he faces the basket and attacks off the dribble. Very strong with the basketball, Nelson can power through traffic and dunk in a crowd. Watch out when he gets it in transition. [Renardo] Sidney can attest to that because Nelson through one down on him."
