Battle blazes way to half dozen offers

As he recently demonstrated at the state high school track and field championships, Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Vista two-sport standout Allante Battle is one of the top athletes in the west. He swept the 100, 200 and 400 meters, running a personal best 10.62 seconds in the 100. He's also picking up quite a bit of attention on the gridiron, with a half dozen offers trickling in over the last month.

Arizona was first to offer Battle, and Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon State, San Diego State and Utah have followed suit.

At 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds, Battle projects at wide receiver or cornerback at the Division I level, and he's willing to consider playing on either side of the football at the next level.
