Cody Bruns stands out at Barton Camp

In terms of the recruiting process and the potential for collegiate play, Cody Bruns is an easy athlete to cheer for; he is an underdog, in all aspects.

At 5-foot-11, people say he is too short to be a premier wide receiver. At a scant 175 pounds, people say he doesn't have the necessary size or strength. Despite owning several state records for receiving, people say the small-school competition is soft and that his stats are inflated because he plays for AA Prosser High School.

But, contrary to all the criticism aimed at him, Bruns has done nothing but make big play after big play, and he recently had a chance to prove himself at the Barton/Next Step workout, held at Willamette University in Salem, Ore., on May 12.
