Spring Spotlight: Steven Sylvester
UGASports.com will be on the road Monday through Friday throughout the month of May. We will be visiting school after school to see some of the top prospects in the country go through spring practice. We will run the Spring Spotlight feature daily into June showing exclusive practice video, up close photos, and notes from practice. The prospect featured today is LB Steven Sylvester.
Prospect: Steven Sylvester
High School: Union Grove (McDonough, Ga.)
Vitals: 6-2, 218-pounds, 4.75
Offers: Alabama, FSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and others.
Favorites: Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
The Skinny in Recruiting: Sylvester listed Georgia and FSU early and often, but since Alabama offered they may have become the team to beat. The Crimson Tide got him over for a visit and Saban stood out to Sylvester immediately. Georgia, Georgia Tech and a few others look to still be in the mix, but the Tide has really gotten off to great start with him this spring.
UGASports.com traveled over to Union Grove recently to watch Sylvester go through spring practice. The Wolverines are going through a coaching change, so a lot of the practice was teaching not hitting.
Spring Practice Observations: Sylvester is without a doubt the leader of this team and he leads by example. He played with a lot of fire and his teammates fed off his lead. He is a very coachable young man that will do whatever he is asked. He listens, he works hard, he gives it his all and he hustles at tall times.
At linebacker, we saw Sylvester work on his first step which is very important as a linebacker. Getting that read quickly is a big part of making the play on that second level of defense. He showed good feet and the ability to make a quick read at linebacker.
